The Parenting Guides, LLC, doing business as The Parenting Experts™ (“The Parenting Experts,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), provides parent education, coaching, courses, workshops, webinars, and training services to parents, schools, businesses, and organizations through theparentingexperts.org and related services (collectively, our “Services”). This Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) describes how we collect, use, maintain, disclose, and otherwise process (collectively, “process”) information we collect from you or receive from others, and how we protect and secure that information. If you have questions about your rights under this Policy or any agreement you have with us, please contact us using the information in Section 11 below.

This Policy is subordinate to any specific terms set forth in a contract for services or other agreement you may have with The Parenting Experts relating to a particular service or dataset.

This Policy applies only to information that The Parenting Experts processes. It does not apply to information collected independently by a school, business, or organization that has engaged us to deliver training or programming (our “Institutional Clients”); those clients may have their own privacy policies that apply to you. It is our practice, however, to treat all Personal Information we receive from Institutional Clients with the same or greater care that they use.

 

1. What information do we collect?

We collect what can be described as Personal Information and Non-Personal Information. We collect this information when you provide it to us directly, when you purchase, register for, or inquire about our goods or services, and when we work with our business partners or Institutional Clients.

“Personal Information” is information that can be used to identify, locate, or contact you, a natural person, together with any other information we may connect to it, including anything defined as personal information under applicable law. Examples of Personal Information we collect include:

●       Contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, username, and password;

●       Relationship information, such as your preferences, goals, or interest in our courses, coaching, workshops, or other offerings;

●       Transactional information, such as purchases, coaching or workshop registrations, webinar attendance, customer service inquiries, session data, and account activity;

●       Professional and institutional information, such as your job title, school or district, business or organization name, and role, when you engage with us as a school, business, or organizational client or contact; and

●       Feedback and survey information, such as responses to satisfaction surveys, testimonials, or program evaluations you choose to provide.

We do not, as part of our ordinary Services, collect academic records, grades, standardized test results, disciplinary history, or other student education records. Our Services are directed to parents, caregivers, and professional staff. To the limited extent any program involves direct interaction with minors (for example, a school-based student assembly), we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13 except as described in Section 9 below.

“Non-Personal Information” is information that does not identify you, and is not identifiable to you, as a natural person. Examples of Non-Personal Information we collect include:

●       Cookies and similar tracking technologies processed in a non-identifiable way;

●       Information we anonymize so that it can no longer be tied to a natural person;

●       Information we aggregate with other data so that no natural person can be identified or linked to any specific information; and

●       The name, contact details, relationship information, transaction history, or financial information of legal entities — that is, business, school, or organizational clients rather than natural persons.

2. Why do we collect this information?

We process Personal Information for a variety of purposes depending on the information involved. In general, we process Personal Information to serve you, to deliver our goods and services, and to improve them, while processing information as necessary to support your use of our Services. We may also process Personal Information as necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

In summary, we process Personal Information for the following purposes:

●       To oversee and complete transactions with our clients, including course, coaching, workshop, and webinar purchases or registrations;

●       To prepare, deliver, maintain, or otherwise provide our goods and services, including courses, coaching, workshops, webinars, our book and related materials, and training delivered to schools, businesses, and organizations;

●       To support and improve our goods and services;

●       To set up and maintain your account and allow you to interact with The Parenting Experts and, where applicable, other participants in our programs;

●       To provide customer service, resolve disputes, address complaints, and troubleshoot technical problems;

●       To measure and understand the effectiveness of our goods and services, including program outcomes reported to Institutional Clients; and

●       To comply with applicable laws and regulations. If we are asked to provide Personal Information pursuant to a lawful subpoena or court order, we will first attempt to notify you unless a court has ruled otherwise, and we will endeavor to verify all requests and disclose only what is legally required.

If we wish to process your Personal Information for any other purpose, we will disclose this to you at the time of collection and may request your express consent. Where we seek to collect Personal Information for marketing or commercial purposes in connection with an Institutional Client relationship, we will only do so where permitted by that institution’s policies and only after providing prior notice and an opportunity to opt out.

Because Non-Personal Information does not identify a natural person, we may use it for other purposes, such as improving our goods and services, creating and publishing reports, conducting statistical analyses of client interest, monitoring industry trends, and similar activities that do not disclose identifiable information.

The Parenting Experts will not sell, rent, or lease your Personal Information to others.

3. Will we share this information with third parties?

To provide our Services, we may share information with third parties who help us deliver our goods and services or who use them, such as our clients, service providers, vendors, or software operators. For example, we may share your Personal Information with:

●       Institutional Clients, such as a school, district, business, or organization that has engaged us to deliver training or programming, with whom we may share participation, registration, or program-outcome information as necessary to serve you and report on program delivery;

●       Payment processors and platforms used to process course, coaching, and workshop purchases;

●       Email, marketing, and membership platforms used to deliver newsletters, course content, and webinar access;

●       Video conferencing and webinar hosting providers; and

●       Cloud storage, scheduling, and other technology providers that support our operations.

We maintain controls and oversight appropriate to ensure that any third party we engage to help process your Personal Information will only have access to the Personal Information necessary to perform its specific, designated tasks, will only use that information for that purpose, and will protect it to at least the same extent that we do. We require vendors with whom we share your Personal Information to be bound by commitments consistent with those we make to you.

This Policy applies only to information that we process and share with others — it does not apply to Personal Information you separately share with third parties on your own.

We may also share information to comply with legal obligations, such as responding to lawful requests from government or judicial entities. If we are asked to disclose your Personal Information, we will attempt to validate the request and, where possible, inform you before disclosure.

We may disclose Personal Information as part of a sale or transfer of our business assets, to enforce our rights, protect our property, or protect the rights, property, or safety of others, or to support external auditing, compliance, or governance functions. Any successor entity to The Parenting Experts will only be permitted to access Personal Information if it is subject to commitments consistent with those we have made to you.

If we need to share your Personal Information for a purpose not identified here, we will obtain your consent before doing so and will disclose that purpose at the time we request your consent. For example, if we wish to use your information or testimonial in marketing materials, we will contact you first.

Because Non-Personal Information does not identify a natural person, we may share it as we find appropriate to improve our Services — for example, engaging outside experts to review anonymized, aggregated program data. Where we disclose anonymized or aggregated data, we prohibit the recipient from attempting to re-identify it.

4. How long do we keep your information?

We keep different kinds of information for different lengths of time depending on the purpose for which it is processed and your specific circumstances. In all cases, we retain your Personal Information only as long as necessary to accomplish the relevant purpose.

5. How do we keep your information secure?

Taking into account the nature of the information we gather, we maintain a security program reasonably designed to protect the security, confidentiality, and integrity of your Personal Information through administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity. We incorporate privacy and security considerations when developing or improving our goods and services.

6. What are your choices regarding your information?

Your first choice is always to limit the information you provide. You may opt out of marketing communications by visiting our website and telling us your preference, or by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of any marketing email.

Regarding cookies and similar tracking technologies, you can manage these through your browser’s settings, sometimes called “Do Not Track” settings. Browsers differ, so consult your browser’s help section for details. You can also manage location sharing and cookie handling through your mobile device’s privacy and security settings. We will comply with your browser’s Do Not Track signal to the extent required by law.

We support your ability to access, correct, and delete your identifiable information. If you have an online account with us, you may be able to log in to access or update certain information. For identifiable information not linked to an online account, please contact us directly using the information in Section 11.

7. For California residents

This notice does not apply to employment-related personal information collected from California-based employees, job applicants, contractors, or similar individuals.

The California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) affords California residents certain rights as data subjects. We encourage you to read and learn about those rights on your own; the following is intended to help you begin to understand them:

●       Access: You may request that we disclose certain information about our collection and use of your Personal Information.

●       Erasure: In some cases, you may request that we erase Personal Information in our possession.

●       Data Portability: You may request a copy of your Personal Information and, in some cases, request that we transfer it directly to a third party on your behalf.

The CCPA also provides California residents the right to direct us not to sell your Personal Information. We do not sell your Personal Information.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

The categories of Personal Information we collect from California residents are described in Section 1 above, and include contact information, relationship information, transactional information, and, where applicable, professional or institutional information. The purposes for which we collect this Personal Information are described in Section 2 above.

Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, we state that we do not share your Personal Information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

8. Working with schools and other institutional clients

When we are engaged by a school, district, business, or organization to deliver training, coaching, workshops, or programming, our role and the Personal Information we receive are governed by our agreement with that Institutional Client. Where we work with a school or district, any student education records remain subject to that institution’s own obligations under applicable law, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”); we do not seek to receive or hold student education records, and we require Institutional Clients to obtain any consents required before sharing information with us. Where an Institutional Client shares limited contact or participation information with us (for example, a parent’s name and email address for workshop registration), we process that information consistently with this Policy and any additional terms in our agreement with that institution.

9. Children’s privacy (COPPA)

Our Services are directed to parents, caregivers, educators, and other adult professionals, not to children. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information directly from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental or guardian consent, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with Personal Information without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information. If you believe a child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us using the information in Section 11.

10. Does this Policy ever change?

We may post changes to this Policy on this page. Please refer to the “Last updated” date at the top. Except where otherwise required by law, we may or may not contact you directly about certain changes, so we encourage you to review this page periodically. Except where otherwise required by law, your continued use of our Services after a change to this Policy is deemed to be your consent to that change.
